Chemist Keary Engle receives new ACS grant
Scripps Research chemist Keary Engle, PhD, has been awarded a Doctoral New Investigator grant from the American Chemical Society (ACS) Petroleum Research Fund. With the award, Engle will receive $110,000 over two years to initiate a “new research direction” in fundamental petroleum science—and more specifically, in fundamental organic chemistry studies related to petroleum.

ACS Petroleum Research Fund is an endowment and proceeds of the endowment provide support for “advanced scientific education and fundamental research in the petroleum field.”

Engle’s research focuses on the fundamental reactions to create organic molecules for use in medicine, agriculture and more. A alumnus of the Skaggs-Oxford graduate program at Scripps Research, Engle’s honor also include the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award, the Donald E. and Delia B. Baxter Foundation Young Faculty Award and a Fulbright Scholarship. For more information, please visit the Engle lab website.
