Position at Scripps: Director of Planned Giving and Estates, Office of Philanthropy, The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI)
Responsibilities: Graham raises funds for TSRI by developing and arranging planned and major gifts. To that end, he builds relationships with donors and potential supporters with an affinity for the institute’s work and mission; he also helps educate individuals on the value of estate and gift planning.
Background: Graham began his 18-year career in philanthropy at Scripps Foundation and most recently served as director of gift planning for the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Graham has particular experience in creating and administering gifts in which donors retain a life income interest, e.g., gift annuities and charitable trusts, as well as other planned gifts (such as bequests) and gifts of real estate, retirement plans, and life insurance.

Awards/Achievements: A UCSD graduate (BA degree in political science and visual arts), Graham also is a Certified Fund Raising Executive.
Professional and Volunteer Activities: Graham is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Partnership for Philanthropic Planning (formerly NCPG), Canadian Association of Gift Planners, and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and has held membership in the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy. He has also been a guest speaker for the University of San Diego Nonprofit Leadership and Management Program and regional professional conferences. He has served in leadership roles within the community that include positions as a committee member, board of director, officer and chair. The breadth of his volunteer activities includes various non-profit organizations and local and state political campaigns.
Extracurricular activities: A San Diego native, Graham’s favorite leisure-time activities include spending time with his husband, traveling, hiking, yoga, exercise, and photography.
