3D-Structure, Design and Informatics

Our laboratory interests include

  • Three dimensional structural analyses of Viral capsids and proteins
  • Structural Bioinformatics and Homology Modeling
  • Functional Capsid and Protein Design.

Currently, our work focuses on 3D-structural analyses of viral capsids and proteins, informatics and design of capsids with new and novel functionalities. We use viral capsids as platforms for polyvalent display of antigenic epitopes to generate customized vaccines of interest.

    We employ methods in

  • Structural biology: X-ray crystallography, electron microscopy
  • Bioinformatics: relational databases and data-mining
  • Molecular Biology: protein design, expression
  • Biophysical methods
