SER-CAT Symposium to Be Held at Scripps Florida April 7

TSRI faculty, staff scientists, trainees and students are invited to attend the Southeast Regional Collaborative Access Team (SER-CAT) Symposium, scheduled for April 7, 2017, on the Florida campus of The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI). SER-CAT is an organization consisting of 21 member and four associate institutions, formed in 1997 to provide third-generation x-ray capabilities to macromolecular crystallographers and structural biologists in the southeastern region of the United States.

CA ScrippsAssists Volunteers Needed April 2: Epilepsy Foundation Fundraiser

Join ScrippsAssists in supporting the Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County by volunteering at the 18th Annual Sharon’s Ride.Run.Walk. for Epilepsy, the largest epilepsy awareness event in San Diego. The event will be held at De Anza Cove in Mission Bay Park on April 2, 2017, from 6 AM to 2 PM.

Volunteers have several shifts to choose from:

Registration: 6:30 to 10:30 AM
Registration & Food Serving: 6:30 AM to 12:30 PM
Food Serving: 10 AM to 1 PM
Face Painting: 9:30 to 11:30 AM and/or 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM
Expressive Arts: 7 AM to 2 PM (this usually ends by 12:30 PM, but listing 2 PM just in case)
Finish Line Time Keeper: 8:30 AM to noon
T-shirts: 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM
Water Booth: 8:45 AM to 11:30 AM

All volunteers will receive a complimentary lunch. To volunteer, please email ScrippsAssists Project Lead Kai-Chun Chen at kaichun@scripps.edu with your name(s) and preferred volunteer roles/times.


CA Onsite Clinic Scheduled for March 22

The next onsite immunization clinic on the California campus will be held Wednesday, March 22, from 9:30 to 11 AM, in the Hazen Theory Building, rooms 203/205. Appointments are not needed. Conducted by Sharp Rees-Stealy staff, the clinic will provide hepatitis B vaccinations free of charge to all TSRI employees. Environmental Health & Safety Occupational Medicine must pre-authorize all other procedures based on the employee’s working conditions. These procedures include tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (Tdap) vaccines and other titers, immunizations and procedures.


CA Biosafety Committee Meeting Materials Due March 24

To receive consideration at the next TSRI Institutional Biosafety Committee, registration documents must be submitted to Environmental Health and Safety by Friday, March 24, via email to rachellv@scripps.edu. The meeting will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2:30 to 3:30 PM, Building 3301, P2 conference room.
