In April, a number of Ph.D. candidates defended their theses as one
of the last steps before graduation. Graduate student David Gray (pictured
here) spoke on "Photochemical Benzannulation Applied to the Total Synthesis
of Hybocarpone and Hamigerans," a dissertation written under the guidance
of K.C. Nicolaou, chair of TSRI's Department of Chemistry, Darlene V.
Shiley Chair, and L.S. Skaggs Professor of Chemical Biology at TSRI's
Skaggs Institute.
TSRI's program, The Kellogg School of Science and Technology, is ranked
by U.S. News & World Report as among the top in the nation.
