Dixon's speech focused on the origins of TSRI. "If there is anything
anyone wants to know about the history of the institute, ask me," Dixon
said.
Dixon had the foresight to establish the SOF in 1962. From its inception,
the SOF hosted a distinguished lecture series to enable junior scientists
to interact with outstanding researchers in the field. The lecture series
remains key to the society's mission today.
