Research Associate Emily Burke, this year's SOF president, introduced
the keynote speaker for the evening, Frank Dixon, former president of
the institute and founder of the SOF. A pioneering immunologist, Dixon
and four of his colleagues from the University of Pittsburgh came to
La Jolla in 1961.
"Under his leadership, Scripps became the internationally renowned
organization it is today," said Burke.
