Learn About Eudora
Do you know how to add an individual to the Recipient
List in Eudora? Have you ever used the "Find Message" feature
to locate that one e-mail message you thought you might have
lost forever? Learn how to make "nested" Address Book entries,
use multiple signatures, format message text, and insert a
graphic. Best of all, find out who Eudora was! To learn more
about this e-mail program, sign up for the Eudora class scheduled
for Tuesday, April 17, from 8:30 to 11:30 AM. To enroll, go

or e-mail Training@scripps.edu.
Discover the Power of Acrobat
Have you wondered what Acrobat is all about? At TSRI,
some people use Acrobat to fill in online documents, such
as grants, performance evaluations, and job requisition forms.
Acrobat can also be used as a tool for a collaborative editing
effort where the edit reviews are performed online, perhaps
cross-platform. Acrobat can also be used to build interesting
and interactive documents and "kiosk" style presentations.
One handy feature of the full program is Acrobat Catalog,
which creates powerful keyword searches for one or many documents.
Acrobat training will be offered in three sessions: Acrobat
Basics, Annotating and Enhancing PDF Files, and Distiller
and Catalog. Acrobat Basics is a prerequisite for the other
two classes. The Basics class will cover the following topics:
- Explanation of the work area and toolbars,
- Navigating a document,
- Minor editing and reordering pages,
- Creating bookmarks and links,
- Converting a Word document using PDFWriter,
- Building a simple "fillable" form.
The first Acrobat Basics course is scheduled for Tuesday,
April 24, 8:30 to 11:00 AM. If you would like to learn more
about Acrobat and complete the prerequisite for the other
classes, go to http://www.scripps.edu/rc/training/signup.html
or email training@scripps.edu.
Course on Developing Capable Young People
If there is enough interest among employees, TSRI will
offer a four-week course, "Developing Capable Young People."
The sessions will focus on how to give young people a sense
of being capable and significant, as well how to help them
develop self-discipline. There is a minimum of eight participants
and a maximum of 15. The instructor is Linda Watson. Sessions
will be held on Thursdays, noon to 1:00 PM, from April 19
to May 10 in the Administrative Building, 3301 North Torrey
Pines Court, P1 Conference Room. The cost is $50 per person
(including video and workbook). For more information or to

TB Screenings, Hepatitis B Immunizations, and Serum Draws
On Monday, April 16, Wednesday, April 18, and Friday,
April 20, personnel from Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group will
be on-site to conduct TB screenings, Hepatitis B immunizations,
and serum draws. The clinics will be conducted at the Administrative
Offices (3301 North Torrey Pines Court) on the P1 level from
11 AM to 2 PM. No appointments are necessary.
TB screening requires a 48 to 72 hour follow-up. Individuals
receiving the TB screen on Monday will need to return on Wednesday;
individuals screened on Wednesday, will need to return on
Friday. Initiation of the TB screening process will not be
available on Friday, but Hepatitis B immunization and serum
draws will be. To learn more about these programs, see the
