Anne Hanneken, M.D. As an experienced ophthalmologist, retina specialist and Associate Professor of Molecular Medicine at Scripps Research, Anne Hanneken, MD, ably straddles two worlds. She spends half of each week attending to patients in her clinical practice and the other half pushing the frontiers of scientific research into the mechanisms behind vision. Her dual roles complement each other. The Hanneken Lab members who are talented and brilliant. Each member works collaboratively and has an individual role in the success or the research program. |

Jennifer Johnson, Ph.D. Jennifer Johnson, PhD, is our Senior Staff Scientist. Jennifer leads our work in macular degeneration. Her background is in immunology and molecular biology and she holds PhD in the field. |

Thomas Neikirk, IV As the Research Assistant IV, Thomas focuses on improving the chemistry of vision. He studies compounds that affect photoreceptor function, with the goal to identifying molecular that could help patients with vision problems associated with macular degeneration.
