Current Research Focus
GlyRS and TyrRS are the only two of 20 aminoacyl tRNA synthetases associated with Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease. Up to date, at least 10 different mutations in GlyRS gene were identified with CMT2D disease. 3 different mutations in TyrRS gene were identified with DI-CMTC disease. Despite many efforts, the connection between these two tRNA synthetases and CMT still remains not clear. My project mainly focuses on try to understand molecular mechanism of mutant GlyRS in CMT-2D disease from cellular and structural aspects.
