Project
- TyrRS(tyrosyl t-RNA synthetase) can charge tyrosine to its cognate tRNA during protein synthesis. It can also be split into two parts. Each part can function as a cytokine. In addition, TyrRS also localizes in the nucleus in some specific situations. My project is to understand why TyrRS can enter the nucleus and its possible connection to CMT.
- Mutation of GlyRS and TyrRS can cause CMT(Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease), however the mechanism is still unknown. Our goal is trying to understand why these mutations can cause CMT.
