Project

  1. TyrRS(tyrosyl t-RNA synthetase) can charge tyrosine to its cognate tRNA during protein synthesis. It can also be split into two parts. Each part can function as a cytokine. In addition, TyrRS also localizes in the nucleus in some specific situations. My project is to understand why TyrRS can enter the nucleus and its possible connection to CMT.
  2. Mutation of GlyRS and TyrRS can cause CMT(Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease), however the mechanism is still unknown. Our goal is trying to understand why these mutations can cause CMT.
