Lead, Cardiovascular Genomics, Scripps Research Translational Institute


Evan Muse is a physician-scientist with research interests that mine the transition zone of mobile health, genomics and cardiovascular disease. After his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he completed his medical and graduate studies as part of the Medical Scientist Training Program at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where he studied the connections between obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Following internship and residency in internal medicine at the Columbia University Medical Center-New York Presbyterian Hospital, he completed his training in cardiology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California. As a KL2 clinical scholar he received a master's degree in Clinical Investigation at Scripps Research.

In 2012, he joined Scripps Research Translational Institute, where he currently leads cardiovascular genomics studies. He is also a cardiologist and assistant program director for Research of the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program at Scripps Clinic.
