Emily Spencer joined Scripps Research Translational Institute in 2014. Spencer has over 10 years of experience in human genetics research, overseeing recruitment and retention of participants in large-scale genomics studies for the past six years. At the Translational Institute she directs local implementation of Clinical and Translational Science Award network-wide exercises including the Common Metrics Initiative and the Trial Innovation Network.

Spencer received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Spanish from the University of California, Davis. She obtained her doctoral degree in Genetics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where her dissertation research focused on expanding molecular diagnostic methods for Neurofibromatosis type 1 and related disorders.
