In another program on the California campus, a select group of college students from across the country participated in the 2009 Summer Immunology and Virology Undergraduate Fellowship: An Advanced Program in Science Research Education (SINAPSE). The program, funded in part by Genentech, was established six years ago to train undergraduate students who have a passion for understanding the immune system and the intricacies of how it works
"The SINAPSE program combines laboratory training with advanced teaching modules that synergize to provide the student with an intensive, challenging, but incredibly rewarding 10-week fellowship," said Assistant Professor Julie Jameson, the program's organizer. "As a testament to the strength of the SINAPSE program, several previous participants are now Scripps Research Kellogg School of Science and Technology graduate students."
