STSI Invites Grant Applications

The Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI), supported by the National Institutes of Health, is starting its next cycle of grants to support translational and clinical research for pilot and methodological studies. All Scripps Research faculty members and "of subject" appointments on the La Jolla, California campus are eligible to apply for the grants, which consist of approximately $50,000 of direct funds for clinical and translational research with the potential to directly impact the future of medicine.

The deadline for this round of applications May 15, 2009 (awards to be made by July 2009). The last cycle had more than a 30 percent funding success rate! The Science Review Committee, let by Scripps Research Professor Frank Chisari, includes more than 20 highly regarded peers in basic and clinical research and has helped to make many of the pilot study initial applications quite successful on resubmission by providing insightful critique.

Applications (forms and submission via the website) are now live and can be accessed via the STSI website at: http://www.stsiweb.org/index.php/support/pilot_funding_opportunities.
