Scripps Florida Program Blooms The Scripps Florida campus offers its own summer internship program, which enables select Florida teachers and high school students to learn about contemporary issues in biomedical research and to work alongside world-class scientists and their staffs. The six-week internships, sponsored by the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust, attracted a pool of 90 applicants this year. The three teachers and 11 students chosen to participate included: (top left) Marissa Englander of the Banjamin High School, shown here with mentor Research Assistant Smith Kota; (top left) Kaio Ferreira of West Boca Raton High School, here with mentor Assistant Professor Joaquin Castilla; and Olivia Tighe of John I.
