"One of the Lucky Few"

Bryant, now age 25, first started having symptoms of the progressive disease, whose first signs include trouble walking, reduced hand coordination, and slurred speech, as a teenager. It took over a year of doctor's visits and lab tests to get an accurate diagnosis.

"I am also doing this because I am one of the lucky few Ataxians who can still get around without the use of a wheelchair," Bryant says. "The ability that I have will be gone at some point, I feel an obligation to do as much as I can while I still can."
