Dreyfoos—who owns and directs The Dreyfoos Group, a private capital management firm that grew out of his previous ventures, including Photo Electronics Corporation and WPEC-TV-12 of West Palm Beach—addresses the audience, emphasizing the importance of doing what you love and encouraging graduates to take advantage of networking and collaboration.

Dreyfoos was elected to the Scripps Research Board of Trustees in February 2004. Later that year, he and his wife, Renate, announced a gift of $1 million to the institute.
