M.G. Finn to Speak in Faculty Lecture Series
Associate Professor M.G. Finn will speak on "Chemically Tailoring the Form and Function of Virus Particles" as part of the ongoing Faculty Lecture Series on Wednesday, May 10. The lecture will be held at 5 PM in the Timken Amphitheater, Scripps Clinic, La Jolla.


Career Workshop Series: "Making the Most of Your Presentation"
Physicist and trainer Jean-Luc Doumont will give a seminar "Making the Most of Your Presentation" on Friday, May 5, from 9 to 10:30 AM, as part of the Career Workshop Series. The seminar will present a five-step methodology that leads to effective presentations: planning; designing the presentation; creating visuals; delivering the presentation; and answering questions. He will also offer tips on how to handle nervousness. The workshop, sponsored by the Society of Fellows, the Kellogg School of Science and Technology, and the Postdoctoral Services Office, will be held in the Keck Amphitheater, Beckman Center.


Library Tip: The Scientist Online
The Kresge Library is pleased to announce the addition of full-text access to The Scientist, back to 1988. The Scientist provides the latest news and developments in the life sciences. Information on research, technology, careers, and the business of science is covered. A number of additional features are available such as video interviews with scientists, slideshows, blogs, and a podcast. You can also sign up for The Scientist's daily email to keep up-to-date. Reminder: Scientific Report Deadline May 5
The due date for faculty submissions for the next Scientific Report will be Friday, May 5, 2006. The book will go to press in November for an early January distribution, coinciding with the annual meeting of the Board of Scientific Governors.

California Faculty can submit their reports either on disk plus a printout to the departmental administrator or via email to Jann Coury plus a printout to your departmental administrator.

To submit your scientific report via email, please follow the instructions in the guidelines available at: http://www.scripps.edu/news/sr/2006guides.pdf.

Florida faculty submissions will also be Friday, May 6, 2006. Guidelines for the Florida Faculty report submission are available online at: http://www.scripps.edu/news/sr/2006guidesfla.pdf.
