Web Pages Reach Out to DonorsBy Mika Ono The Scripps Research Institute's Development Office has launched a new web site to provide more accessible and comprehensive information on giving to the institute. "Scripp Research's new philanthropy pages cover almost every option for understanding, visiting, or giving to the institute," says Denise M. Scalzo, vice president of development. "Our improved website will help answer donor questions." The new site provides the following features:
"The web pages offer a 'one-stop shop' for those who might want to give to Scripps Research," says Development Associate Elliot Wolf. "More and more donors are going online to research organizations. Online giving is also increasing. Charity on the web is the wave of the future." Wolf, who worked with Karla Martinez of the Development Office, Jann Coury and Robin Clark of Communications, and Bennett Peji of Peji Design on the project, estimates the new site took six months to complete—from researching which features might be useful for donors to building and posting the completed web pages. "It was a big job," says Wolf. "We're excited about this online tool for our donors. We think it's rich with content and addresses the needs of donors and prospective contributors." Martinez, who recently earned her web master certificate from Grossmont College, adds, "The best part of the project was working as a team. Everyone was so supportive."
