Boger to Speak as Part of Faculty Lecture Series
Professor Dale Boger of The Scripps Research Institute will speak on "Chemistry
at the Chemistry-Biology Interface," on Wednesday, March 10, as part of
the Faculty Lecture Series. The lecture will be held at 5 PM in the Timken
Amphitheater, Scripps Clinic, 10666 North Torrey Pines Road.
Career Workshop: "Guidelines to Successful Postdoctoral Training at TSRI"
A seminar "Guidelines to Successful Postdoctoral Training at TSRI" will
be held as part of the Career Workshop Series on Wednesday, March 10 from
1 to 2:30 PM in the Keck Amphitheater of the Beckman Building.
The seminar, which features presentations by Professor and Cell Biology
Department Chair Sandra Schmid and Professor Ben Cravatt, will cover topics
including: goal setting and expectations, time management, networking,
education and opportunities to learn essential skills, and Scripps Research
(and other) resources. A panel of successful present and former Scripps
Research postdocsincluding Matthias Jost of Biosite, Michael (Nick)
Boddy of Scripps Research, Sean Ryder of Scripps Research, Lisa Hannan
of Traffic, and Brian Moyer of Senomyxwill field questions.
The seminar was arranged by Professor Sandra Schmid, Counseling and
Postdoctoral Services, Society of Fellows, and Network for Women in Science
at Scripps. All Scripps Research faculty, postdocs, and graduate students

BioMedical Graphics Offers New, State-of-the-Art Digital Services
BioMedical Graphics is now offering three new digital services:
- Digital Video Disc (DVD) duplication from VHS, SVHS, and digital
tapes.
- Laptop computer support (Mac and PC) for featured speakers/seminars.
- Large format color prints, up to 44" wide, for poster sessions &
banners.

Attention: 2003 Healthcare and Dependent Care Spending Account Participants
If you participated in the Healthcare Spending Account and/or the Dependent
Care Spending Account during the 2003 plan year, please remember that
March 31, 2004 is the deadline for submitting reimbursement claims to
Barney and Barney. Barney and Barney claim forms are available on-line
by visiting the Benefits web site.

Toastmasters Tuesday
The SOS Toastmasters Club, which helps individuals develop a successful
public speaking style, will meet Tuesday, March 9, at 12:15 PM, on the
third floor conference room of the Beckman Building.
TB Screenings, Hepatitis B Immunizations, Serum Draws, and Tetanus
Vaccinations
On Monday, March 15, Wednesday, March 17, and Friday, March 19, personnel
from Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group will be on-site to conduct TB screenings,
Hepatitis B immunizations, serum draws, and tetanus immunizations. The
clinics will be conducted at the Administrative Offices (3301 North Torrey
Pines Court) on the P1 level from 11 AM to 2 PM. No appointments are necessary.
TB screening requires a 48 to 72 hour follow-up. Individuals receiving
the TB screen on Monday will need to return on Wednesday, and individuals
screened on Wednesday will need to return on Friday. Initiation of the
TB screening process will not be available on Friday, but Hepatitis B
immunization, serum draws, and Tetanus immunizations will be. To learn
