Title: Administrative Assistant

Department: Counseling and Postdoctoral Services

Duties: Offering administrative support to Jan Hill and Jeff Jones, who provide free confidential counseling to TSRI employees, students, and their families. Assisting the postdocs and graduate students with job placement, counseling, and career concerns. Working with the Kresge Library to keep the department's resource library—which includes books, tapes, and videos—current. Developing and updating departmental web pages.

Started at TSRI: September 2003

First Impressions: "I'm very impressed by how welcoming people have been. TSRI also seems like a very 'can-do' kind of place. There isn't a lot of red tape. New initiatives are welcome."

Favorite Part of Job: "The people! It's great to work in a place where your co-workers are happy and positive."

Goals at TSRI: "To help make a recognizable difference in the postdoctoral services provided."

Background: B.A. in Communications from the University of Washington. One-year internship at the University of Washington as an undergraduate admissions counselor.

Career Goals: A career in university administration. "I'd like to pursue a master's in postsecondary educational leadership while working at TSRI."

Extracurriculars: Softball. Cooking, especially curries and chicken marsala.
