Twenty Years: An Even Dozen in Neuropharm

Twenty-seven of the people who started at TSRI in 1987—a year when "What a Feeling" from the movie Flashdance was a hit—are still with the institute. A dozen of those are from one department—Neuropharmacology.

Administrative Manager Nancy Callahan (center, bottom photo of some of the 20- year employees from Neuropharmacology) explains that a group led by investigator Floyd Bloom came to TSRI in 1983. "I can't imagine working for anyone else," she says. "Now, the group is like a big family. We've seen each other's children grow up."

What's the secret to keeping a group together for 20 years? According to Bloom (top left), "Find the best people, work with them to find important questions to ask and tools to address them, and then get out of the way..."

Peggy Graber (top, center) and Beverly Ransome (top, right) received gifts from Executive Vice President Arnold LaGuardia.
