What's an EOB? (Hint: Think Insurance Information)
An Explanation of Benefits (EOB) is a summary of claim activity generated
by an insurance company after it receives a claim for medical services.
Listed in the "Remarks" section at the bottom of each EOB is "Patient
Responsibility," the remaining amount you will owe upon receiving a bill
from your medical provider. An EOB is not a bill, but it is important
to keep EOBs for future reference. If you have a question about an EOB,
contact Principal Insurance at the number listed on the EOB or Benefits
Administration at x48487 or benefits@scripps.edu.
