Deuel to Speak in Faculty Lecture Series
The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) Professor Thomas F. Deuel will speak
on "Cytokine Cascades: Pathways to Functional Diversity in Growth Differentiation
and Neoplastic Transformation", as part of the Faculty Lecture Series
on Wednesday, March 12. The lecture will be held at 5 PM in the Timken
Amphitheater, Scripps Clinic, 10666 North Torrey Pines Road.
A Look at the Vision Plan
Benefits Administration would like to remind participants in TSRI
medical plans about the Vision Plan offered through Medical Eye Services
(MES). The coverage is as follows:
- One routine examination per 12 consecutive months,
- Up to $110 toward frames per 24 consecutive months,
- One pair of standard lenses per 12 consecutive months OR up to $100
toward contact lenses per 12 consecutive months.
Please remember to bring an MES claim form when you go to routine
eye exams or to purchase eyewear. A $10 co-payment will be required at
the time of annual services.
MES packets are available in Human Resources. The packet includes an
MES claim form, an MES Provider Directory (list of ophthalmologists, optometrists,
and opticians), and a fact sheet. If you have questions or would like
an MES packet, please contact Benefits Administration at x4-8487 or benefits@scripps.edu.

Rescheduled: How to Save for College 101
Have you ever wondered how you will save enough for the cost of a college
education for your children or even yourself? While the costs of college
may seem overwhelming, GoldenState ScholarshareCalifornia's 529
College Savings Programis an easy, flexible way to save for higher
education while enjoying tax advantages. The information session with
a TIAA-CREF Scholarshare representative has been rescheduled to Tuesday,
March 11 in the Keck Amphitheater, Beckman Center from 1 to 2 PM. For

Use Word with Style
Did you know that you can build an automatic table of contents or list
of figures in Word? Have you ever wanted to relabel your graphic file?
Do you want to know more about using Section Breaks to control formatting?
If you are interested in learning more, then sign up for the Styles class
scheduled for Tuesday, March 4, from 8:30 to 11 AM. Other topics will
include: using the Outline mode; creating and modifying styles; using
hyperlinks to jump to other locations in a Word document. If time permits,
the class will also cover how to import a Word document, in the outline
