Environmental Services Staff Receive Awards
This year's winners of the Environmental Service Department's performance
awards are:
- Employees of the Year: Antonio Bujo and Carmen Flores;
- Positive Attitude Award: Clarito Malixi and Manuel Fernandez;
- Teamwork Award: Daniel Ragudos and Francisco Vega;
- Professional Appearance Award: Danilo Umali and Jorge Hernandez;
- Perfect Attendance Award: Graciela Alvarado, Francisco Vega, Oscar
Alvarado, Cesar Trias, Antonio Bujo, Felipe Paredes, Diego Cervantes,
Joselito Mirando, Daniel Dunn, and Carmen Flores.
Celebrate SOF's 40th Anniversary
The Society of Fellows (SOF) will celebrate its 40th anniversary with
food, drinks, music, and dancing at its Ruby Gala in the Beckman Building
on Saturday, September 21. Tickets, which are $10 and include two free
drinks, are on sale from 11 AM to 1 PM until Wednesday, September 18 outside
the Molecular Biology Building. Tickets may also be purchased by sending
an order form to Jonathan Gitlin, IMM-17 or Immunology room 206.
"Light the Night Walk"
ScrippsAssists is forming a team for the Saturday, October 5 "Light
the Night Walk," a fund raiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The Light the Night Walk is a one-mile evening walk where teams of co-workers,
friends, associates, and family members carry illuminated balloons in
celebration and commemoration of lives touched by cancer. There are pre-
and post walk festivities, refreshments and entertainment. Registration
for the event, held at The Embarcadero Park South (next to theConvention
Center), opens at 5 PM. The walk starts at 7 PM. If you are interested
in being part of the ScrippsAssists team or would like to sponsor the

Lunch&Learn: "Love, Lust, and Power"
Linda Young, assistant professor of psychology at National University,
will speak on "Love, Lust, and Power: What's Going On in My Relationships,"
on Wednesday, September 18, from noon to 1 PM as part of the ongoing Lunch&Learn
seminar series. The presentation will be held in the Beckman Building's
W. M. Keck Amphitheater. For more information, contact Jan Hill, x4-2950.
TB Screenings, Hepatitis B Immunizations, and Serum Draws
On Monday, September 16, Wednesday, September 18, and Friday, September
20, personnel from Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group will be on-site to
conduct TB screenings, hepatitis B immunizations, and serum draws. The
clinics will be conducted at the Administrative Offices (3301 North Torrey
Pines Court) on the P1 level from 11 AM to 2 PM. No appointments are necessary.
TB screening requires a 48 to 72 hour follow-up. Individuals receiving
the TB screen on Monday will need to return on Wednesday; individuals
screened on Wednesday, will need to return on Friday. Initiation of the
TB screening process will not be available on Friday, but hepatitis B
immunization and serum draws will be. To learn more about these programs,
