At a reception that evening, Milligan thanks Director of Facilities
Design Julie Milgrim, who oversaw the design and construction for Phase
One of the facility, and expresses great appreciation to her group.
Phase Two—which will enlist the efforts of investigators Velia
Fowler, Klaus Hahn, Clare Waterman-Storer, and Kevin Sullivan—is
scheduled to be launched by the end of the year, expanding the center's
research to include the study of the dynamics of cellular machines.
Also relocating at the end of the year will be investigator Geoffrey
Chang, whose expertise in solving the high-resolution structures of
integral membrane proteins is a valuable addition to the center.
