The open house of The Scripps Research Institute's (TSRI) Center for Integrative Molecular Biosciences (CIMBio) on Wednesday, April 10 gave San Diego's scientific community a chance to view one of the most advanced biological microscopy centers in the world and to meet the faculty and staff who make it work.

The center is directed by Professor Ron Milligan, who helped draw up plans for the facility last year. Researchers at the new center combine the use of x-ray crystallography and electron microscopy to speedily obtain and analyze high-resolution structural images of large molecular complexes of the cell.
