Three Students Win NSF Fellowships
Macromolecular and Cellular Structure and Chemistry (MCSC) student John Craighead and Chemistry students Seth Horn and Anu Sawkar have won National Science Foundation Fellowships, which are awarded on the basis of merit and provide three years of support. Craighead is using cryo-electron microscopy to solve structures of transcription initiation complexes. Horn is developing a method for the synthesis, sequencing, and screening of a combinatorial library of antimicrobial cyclic peptides. Sawkar is using biophysical methods to study protein misfolding responsible for disease states.
