San Diego Students to Present Research from Summer Internships at The Scripps Research Institute
WHAT: 25 high-achieving high school students (juniors and seniors), many of whom are the first in their families to be headed for college, will give brief (~15 minute) presentations highlighting their work in Scripps Research laboratories this summer. Attending the interns' presentations will be their scientific mentors, family, and friends. Due to limited seating, this event is not open to the public.
Now in its 21st year, the High School Student Research Education Program receives some 10 applications from local high school students for each position available on the Scripps California campus. Interns work alongside Scripps Research scientists on topics ranging from cancer biology and AIDS research to synthetic chemistry and neuroscience. Additional internships are offered on campus for undergraduate students.
WHEN: Thursday, August 12, 2010, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
