Local Activities and Resources
International Services Office
Participation in cultural activities is an important part of life in America. For J-1 scholars, it is also part of the goals for the Department of State's Exchange Visitor Program, as it promotes "exposure and interchange between exchange visitors and Americans so as to increase their understanding of each other's society, culture, and institutions." We encourage all international students and scholars to spend some time outside the classroom or lab and experience the many interests in your area.
Without leaving the Scripps Research campus, you can get help with your career goals or join one or more clubs:
- Career and Postdoctoral Services Office (CPSO): The International Services Office is under the umbrella of the CPSO, which assists all graduate students and postdocs on both campuses in meeting their career goals.
- Network for Women in Science (NWiS): Club to support and promote women in science
- Society of Fellows: Club for Scripps Research graduate students and postdoctoral fellows
- Scripps Outstanding Speakers: Club to practice and improve public speaking
